The Elections Commission has officially opened applications for the upcoming Local Council Elections and Women’s Development Committee Elections, starting today until 15:30 on February 1st. Scheduled to take place on April 4th, all administrative processes and form submissions for this election will be conducted online through the ‘My Portal’ platform.
A total of 1,356 members will be elected, comprising 678 council members and 678 members for Women’s Development Committees. While 294,937 individuals are eligible to vote, ballot boxes will be placed across various regions of the Maldives, resorts, correctional facilities, and in two foreign countries. This election marks a significant step towards digitalization, utilizing technology to streamline several electoral procedures.
