
Recent statistics reveal that over 99,000 tourists have visited the Maldives so far this year.
According to data released by the Ministry of Tourism, a total of 99,350 tourists arrived in the Maldives by the 14th of this month. This represents a 9.6% increase compared to the 90,659 arrivals recorded during the same period last year. The highest number of arrivals in a single day this month was recorded on the 11th, with 9,596 tourists visiting the country.
While China was the leading source market for tourists at the end of last year, Russia has taken the top spot during the first 14 days of this year.
The top five source markets for tourist arrivals are:
- Russia – 16,868 tourists
- Italy – 11,987 tourists
- United Kingdom – 8,159 tourists
- Germany – 6,245 tourists
- China – 5,404 tourists
Statistics indicate that the Maldives currently sees an average of 7,096 tourist arrivals per day. Among the visitors, the majority chose to spend their holidays in resorts.
This significant growth in arrivals follows a record-breaking year for Maldivian tourism in 2023, during which the country welcomed a total of 2.2 million tourists.
