Maziya Sports and Recreation has moved one step closer to securing the Dhivehi Premier League title following a decisive 3-0 victory over Club Eagles.

With this win, Maziya now leads the table with 43 points from 15 matches. Their closest rivals, Odi FC, currently sit in second place with 32 points from 14 matches. Consequently, Maziya can mathematically clinch the championship by winning their next fixture.

During the match held at the National Football Stadium, Maziya maintained overall dominance, creating numerous scoring opportunities and putting the Eagles’ defense under constant pressure. Although the first half remained goalless, Ibrahim Aisam and Hamza Mohamed both had significant chances to break the deadlock for Maziya.

The breakthrough came in the 56th minute when captain Samooh Ali capitalized on a corner, finding the back of the net from within the penalty area. Maziya doubled their lead in the 79th minute through Ahmed Aiham, who finished clinically after receiving a well-placed pass from Hamza inside the box.

Shortly after the second goal, Club Eagles were reduced to ten men when Marvin Lebé was shown a direct red card for a foul on Maziya’s Samooh Ali.

Maziya sealed their victory in the 85th minute when Hamza Mohamed worked his way into the box and unleashed a powerful strike from a tight angle to score the team’s third goal.
