
The Maldives Police Service has released the identities of four individuals arrested during a drug enforcement operation conducted in Gaafu Alifu Atoll as part of ‘Operation Alimagu’.
The operation, which took place today across the Male’ area and Gaafu Alifu Atoll, involved the search of 10 locations and resulted in the arrest of four suspects. The individuals arrested are:
- Shaffah Latheef, 28, from Shevona, GA. Villingili.
- Ahmed Madih, 33, from Muzikeege, GA. Villingili.
- Ahmed Anaam Ibrahim, 30, from Aizan, GA. Villingili.
- Noorunnidham, 35, from Araairu, GA. Villingili.
Upon being produced before the court for a remand hearing, Shaffah Latheef, Ahmed Madih, and Ahmed Anaam Ibrahim were ordered to be remanded in custody until the conclusion of their trials. Noorunnidham was granted a 15-day remand period.
The police confirmed that the investigations into the allegations against these individuals are currently ongoing.
According to the authorities, today’s operation specifically targeted individuals suspected of large-scale drug trafficking and money laundering activities within Gaafu Alifu Atoll. The police further stated that search operations and all necessary law enforcement actions against the suspects and affiliated premises will continue as planned.
The ongoing series of operations under the name ‘Operation Alimagu’ was launched by the police on November 13 last year. To date, the operation has been conducted in 39 islands across the Maldives, leading to the arrest of more than 100 individuals.
