Barcelona Clinches Spanish Super Cup with Victory Over Real Madrid

FC Barcelona has secured their 16th Spanish Super Cup title.

Barcelona claimed the championship in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, after defeating their rivals Real Madrid with a 3-2 scoreline.

In a highly competitive match where both teams displayed strong performances, Barcelona took the lead in the 36th minute. The opening goal was scored by Raphinha.

However, in the second minute of first-half stoppage time, Real Madrid’s Vinícius Júnior scored an equalizer. This marked his first goal since October 4th of last year.

Barcelona regained the lead just two minutes after Madrid’s equalizer, thanks to a goal from Robert Lewandowski.

Yet, before the end of the first half, Real Madrid’s Gonzalo García scored to bring the match to a level 2-2.

The winning goal for Barcelona was scored in the 73rd minute by Raphinha, who was also named the player of the match.

During stoppage time at the end of the game, Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong was shown a red card and sent off following a foul on Kylian Mbappé.

The Spanish Super Cup, featuring four competing teams, has been hosted in Saudi Arabia since 2020. An agreement is in place to continue hosting the tournament in the country until 2029.
