Since its inception in May last year, the Sea-to-Air Cargo service has demonstrated remarkable progress. In December alone, 329 tons of goods were successfully transported to 20 countries through the operations of 10 different airlines. This collaborative initiative between Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) and Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has now expanded to include over 17 participating airlines, marking it as a highly successful venture that contributes millions of dollars in revenue to the Maldivian economy. The government has highlighted the significant potential for further expansion of this service, capitalizing on the high frequency of international flights operating to the Maldives.
