As part of the government’s initiative to provide a case of canned tuna to every household for this year’s Ramadan, MIFCO has nearly completed the production of 118,000 cases. MIFCO’s Managing Director, Faruhath Shaheer, stated that all cases will be ready by the 15th of this month, noting that the quantity allocated for this year is higher than the previous year.
Arrangements for the distribution are being coordinated in collaboration with the Ministry of Cities, Local Government and Public Works, and STO. To ensure efficient delivery to the atolls, stock has already been pre-positioned in Addu City and Kulhudhuffushi City. Last year, the government distributed a total of 111,231 cases of canned tuna as Ramadan gifts.
