
Statistical data reveals that international airlines operated more than 15,000 flights to the Maldives last year, marking a 3.6% increase compared to 2024. According to figures released by the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), a total of 15,689 international flights were recorded from January to November 2025. In contrast, 15,143 flights were operated during the same period in 2024, reflecting a growth of 3.6%.
The report highlights that 14,400 of these movements were scheduled flights, up from 13,896 during the corresponding period in 2024—a 3.6% rise.
Furthermore, there has been a notable increase in private jet and charter flight arrivals. By the end of November 2025, the Maldives welcomed 1,289 such flights, compared to 1,247 in the same period of 2024, representing a 3.3% increase. Amidst the overall growth in international flight movements, several airlines are expanding their scheduled operations to the Maldives. Following the inauguration of the new passenger terminal at Velana International Airport, all international airlines currently operating in the country have transitioned their operations to the new facility.
