The Maldives Police Service has confirmed that forensic samples are being collected and an investigation is currently underway following the discovery of a body at sea near R. Kinolhas.
Authorities received the report of a body floating in the waters off the coast of Kinolhas at approximately 16:24 yesterday afternoon. Police units were immediately dispatched to the area following the report.
According to the police, the body was found in a state of advanced decomposition, which has prevented the identification of the individual’s gender at this stage. Officials stated that they are currently in the process of gathering forensic samples and fulfilling all necessary legal and investigative procedures.
The police are continuing their thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident.
