
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the involvement of youth in decision-making roles across all sectors of the nation is essential for fostering sustainable and meaningful development. The President highlighted that the government is actively undertaking numerous significant initiatives to advance the youth. During his remarks concerning proposals put forth by young people at the “Youth Coffee with President” event, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu emphasized the critical importance of youth voices in national decision-making processes. He further noted that, historically, opportunities for extensive youth engagement in the Maldives have been limited, but his administration is committed to transforming this situation.
The President reiterated that providing opportunities for youth participation in decision-making at every level is vital for achieving sustainable and meaningful development. He stated, “The concept of a ‘Youth Parliament’ is highly constructive. Young people from various fields in each atoll should be given the opportunity to participate. I will explore implementation methods for this; it is something I will consider seriously.” Following the Youth Conference, young people shared their concerns and presented proposals through various presentations. During the “Youth Conference with President,” the President engaged in discussions regarding the efforts being made to address the many important issues raised by the youth.
