The Zionists have stated that 40 individuals, whom they claim are Hamas fighters engaged in the jihad for Palestinian liberation, have been martyred after being trapped in an underground bunker in Rafah, located in the southernmost part of Gaza. Rafah, situated near the border between Gaza and Egypt, is currently under Zionist control.
Following the Zionist takeover of Rafah, it is estimated that approximately 200 people became trapped in the underground bunkers constructed in the city. Turkey had previously indicated that many of these individuals were civilians and that efforts were underway to rescue them. However, the Zionists assert that these are Hamas fighters.
The Zionist forces reported engaging and martyring fighters attempting to exit the trapped bunkers. They also mentioned that some individuals had surrendered. The Zionists and their primary ally, the United States, have been urging the fighters in the bunkers to surrender if they wish to leave Rafah safely. However, discussions on this matter have reportedly failed.
Regarding this situation, Steve Witkoff, a special envoy for former US President Donald Trump, stated that the surrender of the trapped fighters in the bunkers presented the best opportunity for establishing lasting peace. The Zionists further claimed that several senior Hamas commanders were among the fighters martyred in the bunker, including a son of senior official Ghazi Hamad and senior commander Muhammad al-Bawwabi. However, Hamas has not confirmed these claims.
