The Aa. Himandhoo harbor development project has been awarded to MTCC. The agreement was signed on behalf of MTCC by the company’s Deputy Managing Director, Ahmed Shareef Abdul Rahman Yoosuf. On behalf of the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, State Minister Hassan Rasheed signed the agreement. MTCC states that once the harbor of Himandhoo, with a population of 910 people, is developed, it will solve the current difficulties faced in using the harbor during the southwest monsoon, as well as address issues of wave surges and lack of space for dinghy berthing.

This project, valued at 27.51 million rufiyaa, has been entrusted to MTCC to complete within 390 days. Under this project, works will include dredging 29,125.29 cubic meters of the lagoon, constructing a 168-meter breakwater, building a 104-meter revetment, installing a 16-meter quay wall, and constructing a 58-meter jetty. Over the past 44 years, MTCC has successfully completed numerous infrastructure development projects across various parts of the Maldives. MTCC was established in 1980 during a crucial phase in the Maldives’ development journey. Since its inception, MTCC has played a vital role in the country’s infrastructure development and the building of social resources.
