Some sources have reported that Israel is in discussions with South Sudan to resettle residents of Gaza in that country.

According to three sources familiar with the matter, although talks have progressed, no agreement has been reached so far.

South Sudan is a country that has been experiencing instability and turmoil for many years due to political and ethnic conflicts. Reportedly, this idea was first proposed by South Sudan’s Foreign Minister, Mayiik Ayii Deng, during a visit to Israel last month. Under Israel’s plan, residents of Gaza, which has been devastated by Israeli attacks since October 7, 2023, would be relocated and resettled in South Sudan.

However, Palestinian leaders continue to reject this plan. They have described such a decision as similar to the Nakba of 1948, when Palestinians were forced to leave for other regions.

The South Sudanese Foreign Ministry has stated that the reports of ongoing discussions between their country and Israel are baseless.
