A total of 613 pilgrims performed Umrah through the Maldives Hajj Corporation during the school holidays last July. While more than 1,200 individuals have travelled for Umrah under the corporation’s mandate so far this year, a total of 5,565 Maldivians departed for the pilgrimage in July alone.
As travelling for Umrah with families has become increasingly common, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) has advised returning pilgrims to remain vigilant and adhere to health safety measures to prevent the spread of diseases. The agency specifically urged individuals to seek medical consultation if any symptoms of illness develop and to prioritize personal hygiene and sanitation.
