The Ministry of Housing, Land, and Urban Development has announced that 418 applications have been received so far under the newly introduced category, which allows individuals to apply for land even if their spouse has already secured housing. This initiative, unveiled by the President in his Presidential Address, involves the allocation of 1,250-square-foot land plots from Rasmalé.
The scheme includes specific categories for both registered residents of Malé and citizens from other islands residing in the capital. The deadline for application submissions is set for April 30th. This measure was introduced by the government to address public concerns regarding the previous policy, which limited housing opportunities to one per family, thereby ensuring broader access to housing for married couples.
