The Minister of Finance, Hassan Zareer, has stated that this administration’s expenditure on debt repayment in US dollars has exceeded that of the previous two governments. In this regard, when compared to the first two and a half years of President Yameen’s and President Solih’s administrations, this government has so far expended $1.293 billion towards debt servicing. Furthermore, a significant portion of the state’s dollar revenue and reserves is being utilized for debt repayment, as well as to ensure the uninterrupted provision of essential services such as fuel and pharmaceuticals to the citizens. The government’s primary objective remains strengthening national reserves and formulating and implementing effective policies to address the prevailing financial challenges.
