In this year’s Presidential Address, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced that the development of the skating arena in the Usfasgandu area of Malé is scheduled for completion and will officially open this coming March. Highlighting this as a significant milestone for the advancement of the sport in the Maldives, the President detailed that the facility will feature both a speed skating track and a dedicated skateboard park. This project, executed under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of RCC, is being developed to standards capable of hosting regional competitions. Although skating has been a popular activity in the Maldives since the 1980s, this marks the first time such a specialized facility is being established in the country.
