President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that several major initiatives will be undertaken this year to bolster the Maldives’ sea and air transportation networks. Within the next six months, high-speed ferry services are set to expand to eight additional atolls. Moreover, the government plans to develop new airports in various regions while simultaneously upgrading existing aviation infrastructure.
While night flight operations have already been implemented across all domestic airports, strategic projects are currently underway to further bridge the air connectivity between northern and southern atolls. The administration’s core objective is to establish a convenient, reliable, and integrated national transport system for the benefit of all citizens.
