Thai police have reported that six people have been shot and killed in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. The incident occurred inside a market in Bangkok, according to the police. The attack took place inside the famous “Or Tor Kor” market in Bangkok. Among those killed in the incident were four security guards and some vegetable vendors. Some news outlets, citing police sources, reported that after shooting and killing five people, the attacker took his own life. Videos circulating of the incident show the man entering the market from the parking zone, carrying a gun.
Wearing a black T-shirt and with a bag slung over his shoulder, the man entered the market and opened fire on people present there at the time. Police have stated that two more people injured in the attack are receiving treatment. The police said they are investigating the motive behind the attack, including whether there is any connection to the ongoing military confrontations between Thailand and Cambodia.
The police reported that the attacker was a 61-year-old man who had previously worked as a security guard. The police have assured that no tourists were harmed in this attack. The Or Tor Kor market, which typically sells fruits and vegetables, is also popular among tourists.
