In a message shared on social media, he said he extends his sincere congratulations and best wishes to the beloved citizens on the proud Independence Day of the Maldives. The President also said he prays for the beloved nation to maintain the independence and prosperity.
Various activities have been scheduled for today to mark the 60th Independence Day of the Maldives. These activities began with the flag-raising ceremony. The President participated in this ceremony. After the ceremony, the President exchanged Independence Day greetings with the attendees. Many activities are planned for this evening in connection with Independence Day. These include cultural and sports activities, as well as cultural performances by school children, to be held in the Republic Square area.
The Maldives Independence Day is celebrated every year on July 26th. This day is observed to commemorate the day when the Maldives gained independence from British protection.
