
The family of Santhi has expressed their deep gratitude and stated that it was a great honor that the Soccer Veterans Association of Maldives took the initiative to dedicate a football tournament to Coach Santhi. Speaking to PSM News after the closing ceremony of the Milo Swam Football Fiesta, which was specially organized for children under 8 years old, Santhi’s brother Ahsan Abdul Ghani said that holding such a tournament in memory of his brother and recognizing his contributions is a great joy for the family.
He also mentioned that this fiesta was organized in close consultation with the family. Therefore, Ahsan expressed immense gratitude to Ali Shameem, the president of the Soccer Veterans Association, for providing this opportunity to honor Coach Santhi’s legacy. Ahsan stated that Coach Santhi was someone who contributed significantly to youth development, especially in nurturing players. He added that dedicating a tournament for young children in Coach Santhi’s memory is something that brings great happiness.
Furthermore, he said that the tournament was conducted in a very well-planned manner and that they are extremely satisfied with how it unfolded. The Swam Football Fiesta is a tournament initiated by the Soccer Veterans Association, open to academies, in memory of the late Ihsan Abdul Ghani, who had rendered numerous services to football. The championship of this tournament was won by Odi Avengers of Odi Academy after competing against BG Sports Academy in the final.
