Iran has begun attacking US military bases in Arab countries. Iranian state media reported that the country has launched a special military operation called “Operation Basharat al-Fath” against US military installations. Iran has attacked US military bases in Qatar and Iraq. Sources say that Iran successfully launched three missile strikes on the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. Al Udeid is the largest US military base in the Middle East, with approximately 10,000 US troops stationed there.
Iran used the same number of missiles to attack US military bases as the US used to strike Iranian nuclear facilities on June 22. However, Iran’s attack on Qatar was carried out in a way that would not endanger Qatar’s civilian population. Given the close relationship between Iran and Qatar, Iran shared information about the attack with Qatar before striking the US military base.
In a statement released after the attack, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said they would never refrain from responding to any attack against the country’s territory, independence, and national security. Iran always warns that it will retaliate against US military bases if the United States attacks Iran.
