
First Lady Madam Sajida Mohamed has expressed interest in collaborating with the Merck Foundation to advance the healthcare sector. She made this statement in a social media post regarding her trip to Dubai to participate in the 7th Summit of Merck Foundation’s First Ladies Initiative.
In her post, the First Lady Madam Sajida mentioned that it was an honor for her to participate as a special guest in the 7th Summit of Merck Foundation’s First Ladies Initiative. She also expressed gratitude for the hospitality and warmth shown by Professor Dr. Frank Stangenberg-Haverkamp, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Merck Foundation, and Senator Dr. Rasha Kelej, CEO of the Foundation, during this trip.
Madam Sajida’s post specifically highlighted her desire to work with the Merck Foundation to overcome current social challenges in the healthcare sector.
She participated in the opening session and committee meeting of this summit, which took place from the 18th to the 19th of this month, and delivered a speech. In her address, she highlighte In her address, she highlighted the efforts being made to facilitate access to affordable and quality healthcare services in the Maldives, and expressed interest in maintaining long-term technical relationships to improve the country’s healthcare services.
In her speech, the First Lady also emphasized raising community awareness, improving cancer screening and mental health-related services, as well as helping to increase women’s leadership in the healthcare sector.
This year’s summit was attended by First Ladies from 14 countries in Africa and Asia. The summit discussed eliminating stigma related to reproductive health, supporting girls’ education, empowering women, and building capacity to address the shortage of healthcare professionals.
