An agreement has been signed between the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and the Qatar Red Crescent Society to hand over $100,000 from the Maldives Zakat Fund, which has been decided to be donated to the people of Gaza.
The signing ceremony, conducted online, was signed by Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, Minister of Islamic Affairs, on behalf of the ministry. Faisal Mohamed Al-Emadi, Secretary General, signed on behalf of the Qatar Red Crescent Society. According to the Islamic Ministry, the funds are scheduled to be handed over to the Qatar Red Crescent Society in two payments.
The ministry has revealed that the $100,000 sent from the Zakat House will be spent on a project carried out by the Qatar Red Crescent Society to provide clean drinking water to the people of Gaza. It is noteworthy that this is the first time the Zakat Fund has provided assistance to a foreign party.
