In accordance with the recent amendments to the Goods and Services Tax Act, the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has mandated that foreign entities operating within the Maldivian tourism sector—including tour operators, travel agents, and online booking platforms—register for GST. Effective from October 1, this tax requirement applies to all overseas service providers facilitating travel, accommodation, and dining services in the Maldives.

MIRA has introduced a dedicated portal to facilitate the registration process for these international parties. Upon successful registration, entities will be issued a GST TIN and a MIRA-Connect account. To further assist with compliance, MIRA has published a comprehensive guide on its official website and established a specialized helpdesk reachable via email at [email protected] to address any inquiries.
