Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has officially opened the bidding process to identify a contractor for the construction of buildings and the establishment of modern facilities at the Thilafushi Commercial Port. This initiative is a key component of the government’s strategic plan to relocate the Malé Commercial Harbor to Thilafushi.
The project, which aims for completion by November next year, involves the development of a comprehensive container terminal, cold storage units, and logistics infrastructure designed for 24-hour operations. This opportunity is open to individual companies as well as joint ventures, with a submission deadline set for September 10.
This development is a cornerstone of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s economic agenda, aimed at resolving the current port congestion and facilitating broader national economic growth.
