Speaking on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the resettlement of GDh. Thinadhoo, former President Abdulla Yameen stated that every government must extend special assistance to the island and ensure it is not neglected, in recognition of the resilience shown and the development achieved following the atrocities and hardships endured by its people. He noted that the park developed during his administration has fallen into disrepair, emphasizing that the government has a responsibility to maintain such public spaces. Furthermore, Yameen called upon councils to oppose proposed amendments to the Decentralization Act that would allow the central government to reclaim island lands. He also heavily criticized the current administration’s economic policies and the rising cost of living.
