
According to statistics released by the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), Velana International Airport (VIA) served 1.62 million passengers during the second quarter of this year. This total includes 1.04 million international passengers, 242,104 domestic passengers, and 341,792 passengers who utilized seaplane services. The highest volume of passenger traffic was recorded during the month of April. Furthermore, the period saw 6,714 international air traffic movements, 5,957 domestic movements, and 36,295 seaplane movements. Notably, VIA continues to serve as the nation’s primary gateway, with 97.7% of all tourists arriving in the Maldives through the airport.
