
Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources, Ahmed Shiyam, has stated that the difficulties arising from the transfer of ice plants to Fenaka Corporation are yet to be fully resolved. The Minister highlighted that bringing these facilities back into operation requires significant expenditure, leading to the decision to install new ice plants in certain locations.
Emphasizing the government’s commitment to finding permanent solutions for the challenges facing the fishing industry, the Minister announced that efforts to increase fish storage capacity and the installation of 11 additional ice plants will commence shortly. Furthermore, he noted that the government is prioritizing the establishment of cooling systems on fishing vessels and enhancing the overall revenue generated from the fisheries sector.
