Maldivian, the national airline, has signed an agreement with Canada’s De Havilland to acquire two state-of-the-art aircraft as part of its strategic efforts to expand seaplane operations. Under this agreement, the airline will procure “Classic 300-G” Twin Otter aircraft, which have been specifically engineered to suit the Maldivian environment and operational requirements.

Incorporating technical insights from pilots and engineers, these aircraft feature a lightweight design aimed at enhancing payload capacity for passengers and cargo while significantly improving fuel efficiency and reducing operational costs. As the Twin Otter remains the most trusted aircraft in global seaplane operations and a cornerstone of the Maldivian tourism industry, this fleet expansion will bolster Maldivian’s operational capacity and pave the way for launching services to new destinations.
