The National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) has launched an initiative to overhaul its monitoring framework to ensure that social welfare assistance is provided exclusively to those who are genuinely eligible. Following the dissolution of its monitoring section in 2020, data remained outdated, leading to the discovery that over MVR 10 million had been disbursed to the accounts of more than 700 deceased individuals. The current efforts aim to track changes in the living conditions of beneficiaries, prevent the misappropriation of public funds, and enhance the overall integrity and effectiveness of the social protection system.
