
During the commissioning ceremony of the ‘Coast Guard Imaduddin’—a vessel gifted by Australia to the Maldives—Special Envoy Tim Watts highlighted the robust military and political relations shared between the two nations. He emphasized that ensuring the security and safety of the Indian Ocean remains a shared priority, noting that the addition of this new vessel represents a significant advancement in the Maldives’ capacity for maritime surveillance and law enforcement. Furthermore, the Envoy underscored that the bilateral relationship, which has spanned over 50 years, continues to flourish across the educational and social sectors.
