According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Tourism, the Maldives welcomed 123,552 tourists during the month of June. This figure represents a 12% decline compared to the arrival numbers recorded in June of the previous year. Despite this downturn, total arrivals for the first half of the year have surpassed the 1 million mark, with China and Russia maintaining their positions as the primary source markets.
While the arrival rate has seen a slowdown since March, largely attributed to the regional impacts of the conflict in the Middle East, the initial months of the year recorded a significant increase in visitor numbers. Furthermore, the data indicates that the vast majority of tourists, accounting for 72%, opted to spend their holidays in resorts.
