According to the Business Survey conducted by the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), the wholesale and retail trade sector in the Maldives experienced growth during the first quarter of this year. The report highlights an increase in sales volume, total workforce, and payroll expenses during this period. However, it also notes that rising procurement costs have led to an uptick in commodity prices. Regarding the outlook for the second quarter, business sentiment appears to have weakened. While employment is projected to grow, a potential downturn is anticipated across key business activities in the coming months.
