The government has clarified that Finance Minister Moosa Zameer resigned from his position due to health concerns, noting that it was a personal decision. Government Spokesperson Mohamed Hussain Shareef stated that the rumors suggesting Zameer was dismissed at the President’s direction are false. In his resignation letter, Zameer explained that his current health condition hinders his ability to fully discharge his ministerial duties, leading him to conclude that stepping down would be in the best interest of the nation. While the government expressed its appreciation for Zameer’s service—who also previously served as Foreign Minister—he affirmed his continued support for the President’s political vision despite his departure from the cabinet.
