Ibrahim Shujau, the Member of Parliament for the Baarashu constituency, has stated that former President Mohamed Nasheed began criticizing the current administration after his request for a seat in the cabinet was declined. Shujau noted that Nasheed had previously collaborated with the then-opposition to bring an end to former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration. However, Shujau alleged that the current government did not wish to include individuals aligned with Nasheed’s ideologies in its cabinet. He further claimed that Nasheed’s decision to rejoin the MDP, after having previously left the party, was a direct consequence of failing to secure a position within the current administration.
