The administrative functions of the ADh. Mahibadhoo Island Council have reached a deadlock following six unsuccessful attempts to elect a Vice President. Candidates from the MDP, PNC, and an independent member are contesting for the position. In the last five rounds of voting, the top two candidates consistently received two votes each. Due to one vote being invalidated in every round, resulting in a persistent tie, the council has scheduled another vote for this afternoon. According to the law, the council’s official work can only proceed once a Vice President is elected during its inaugural session.
