Attorney General Ahmed Usham has refuted claims made by former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, who alleged that the current administration was responsible for the release of suspects implicated in the murder of journalist Ahmed Rilwan. The Attorney General clarified that the individuals in question were released during the 2023 presidential election period. He further noted that the final suspect in custody was released on September 19, 2023, affirming that these actions clearly took place under the previous administration’s tenure.
