Under the government’s initiative to establish Bank of Maldives (BML) ATM services across all inhabited islands, significant progress has been achieved within a remarkably short period. Over the past nine months, ATMs have been installed in 105 islands, bringing the total to 340 ATMs currently operational across the Maldives. Furthermore, in alignment with the President’s pledge, USD ATMs have been established in 70 islands.
The expansion of these services has empowered citizens to withdraw and deposit funds within their own islands, leading to a substantial increase in banking activities. According to the Bank, this growth is reflected in the statistics for 2025, which saw 17.1 billion Rufiyaa deposited and a total of 8.4 million transactions processed through the ATM network.
