
Minister of Health, Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim, has stated that a key objective of the government is to enhance investments in the healthcare sector by leveraging modern science and technology, thereby transforming the Maldivian health system into a robust and trusted institution. In his address on the occasion of World Health Day, the Minister highlighted that the strategic utilization of science and research in disease prevention and treatment was a significant factor in the Maldives’ success in overcoming challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Minister further emphasized that the government’s healthcare policies, including primary healthcare and telemedicine, are rooted in evidence-based professional findings. Furthermore, the government will prioritize the acquisition of new resources and the development of human capital to improve service quality and ensure patient safety. The ultimate goal is to accelerate the development of the healthcare system and ensure that Maldivian citizens have convenient access to high-quality medical services.
