As Eid-al-Fitr is an occasion that symbolizes the unity of the Islamic Ummah, it is celebrated with great festivity in the Maldives. This year, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs has decided to facilitate the Eid prayer in large outdoor congregations at four designated locations across the Male’ region. These areas include the Maafannu Stadium, the Villimale’ Football Ground, the Synthetic Track in Hulhumale’ Phase 1, and the vacant area near Masjid Hassan Adam in Hulhumale’ Phase 2. In addition to these sites, Eid prayers will also be conducted at 25 mosques throughout the Male’ region. However, in the event of inclement weather, the large outdoor congregations will be cancelled, and prayers will instead be held at all mosques where Friday prayers are regularly performed.
To facilitate the Eid prayer arrangements, the Maldives Police Service has decided to implement traffic diversions in certain parts of the city. To ensure the comfort of children and the elderly by avoiding the peak morning heat, the Eid prayer is scheduled to commence at 7:00 AM. These comprehensive arrangements are aimed at providing the public with a safe and seamless opportunity to participate in the Eid prayer.
