Iran’s National Security Chief Larijani Martyred

Iran’s National Security Chief, Ali Larijani, has been martyred in an Israeli strike. His martyrdom comes at a time when the country’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, along with members of his family, had already been martyred in joint attacks carried out by the United States and Israel since February. Larijani is the most senior member of the Iranian government to be martyred since the passing of Khamenei.

Larijani held several influential positions throughout his career, including serving as the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament and the lead negotiator in nuclear discussions. Born in Iraq to a family of religious scholars, Larijani held a PhD in Philosophy. In the political arena, he was initially recognized as a moderate figure. However, following the martyrdom of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commanders and Ayatollah Khamenei, his stance shifted significantly, and he began issuing stern warnings to both the United States and Israel.

Upon resuming the role of Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council in 2025, he severed ties with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and took decisive measures against Western influence. Until his martyrdom, Larijani remained at the forefront of resisting the aggressions of the United States and Israel.
