Despite the rising fuel prices in the global market, the State Trading Organization (STO) has decided to continue providing fuel at the previous rates to public transport and ferry service providers. Additionally, under the “Fahi Hakatha” program, fishermen will continue to receive fuel at subsidized rates, and fuel sheds operating in the islands will also be supplied at the existing rates. STO’s decision aims to alleviate the financial burden on the general public that may arise due to increasing fuel costs. Fuel prices at sheds in the Greater Male’ area will remain unchanged, with petrol priced at MVR 16.01 per liter and diesel at MVR 17.54 per liter.
