Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihsan, has highlighted that the newly launched “Swype” digital wallet will play a pivotal role in realizing the President’s vision for the digital transformation of the Maldivian economy. Speaking at a ceremony held in Addu City, the Minister emphasized that this wallet is a hundred percent Maldivian innovation, designed to meet international standards while ensuring a secure and reliable system.
This digital wallet is set to facilitate cashless and contactless payments, offering significant advantages to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). In addition to enabling instant fund transfers and the ability to receive payments from anywhere in the world, this initiative marks a crucial step toward achieving comprehensive financial inclusion for all Maldivians. The Minister further noted that the application, which supports both domestic and international transactions, serves as a robust foundation for achieving the “Digital Maldives” vision.
