The Ministry of Tourism has revealed that 7,195 new beds were added to the Maldivian tourism industry over the past two years. This expansion includes the opening of 6 new resorts and 216 guesthouses, along with additional capacities in safari vessels, hotels, and homestays. The highest number of new bed registrations was recorded within the guesthouse sector. Currently, the Maldives has a total of 68,244 operational beds across 186 resorts. The government aims to further expand the industry, with a strategic goal of increasing annual tourism revenue to 6 billion dollars by 2027.
