The Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, has announced that 164 pilgrims who were previously unable to travel for Umrah due to various complications departed last night with the assistance of the government. These individuals had faced significant difficulties after their travel arrangements, initially organized by a private group, were cancelled at the last minute.
The Minister further noted that the Maldives Hajj Corporation facilitated their departure by chartering a dedicated flight from the national airline, Maldivian. He confirmed that all necessary arrangements for the pilgrims in Makkah have now been finalized. Additionally, Dr. Shaheem expressed his gratitude to the President and the relevant state institutions for the high priority and commitment shown in resolving this issue for the citizens.
