President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that this administration is working more than any other to ensure the development and advancement of women. He made these remarks while speaking at “The Greater Addu Event” held at the Artificial Beach. Speaking at the event organized by the PNC, the President highlighted International Women’s Day and asserted that this administration’s commitment to women’s development is evident through tangible results.

The President noted that until now, any significant progress made to empower Women’s Development Committees (WDCs) has been initiated by this government. He pointed out that this administration brought about the necessary legislative changes to ensure WDC members receive the Ramadan allowance. Furthermore, he emphasized that it was this government that transitioned the role of the WDC President into a full-time executive position elected by the people.

“This administration doubled the budget allocation for these committees from 5% to 10%. Additionally, we mandated that the Ramadan allowance be paid from the council’s budget rather than from the committee’s own funds. Therefore, it is this government that has truly empowered the Women’s Development Committees to function effectively,” the President said.

President Dr. Muizzu further highlighted that over the past few months, the government has facilitated various loan schemes and economic empowerment initiatives for women. He added that plans are already in place to continue these efforts throughout the year. The President reaffirmed that mainstreaming women’s empowerment remains a key policy of his administration.
