Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has stated that if candidates from the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) are elected in the upcoming Local Council and Women’s Development Committee elections, they will focus their efforts on opposing the government.

Speaking at a ceremony held to inaugurate a People’s National Congress (PNC) campaign hub, the Vice President noted that the opposition has consistently withheld cooperation toward government policies. He emphasized that electing such individuals would obstruct the progress and development required by local islands.

Furthermore, the Vice President accused the opposition of deliberately hindering the President’s decisions aimed at ensuring national stability. He appealed to the public to vote for government-aligned candidates to ensure that development projects can proceed at an accelerated pace.
