The authority to issue live fish export permits and International Veterinary Health Certificates, previously managed by the Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA), has been officially transferred to the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare.
Applicants can now apply for these permits through the Ministry’s dedicated online portal. New applicants are required to email their official company documentation to facilitate the integration of their accounts with eFaas.
The Ministry advises that the processing of permits typically takes between 2 to 3 working days; therefore, it is recommended to submit applications well in advance. Furthermore, exporters must notify the Ministry at least 6 hours prior to departure to arrange for shipment inspections. The Ministry has emphasized that it will not be held liable for any losses or delays resulting from failure to obtain the necessary permits or provide timely notification for inspections.
