Transport Minister Mohamed Ameen and Minister of Construction and Infrastructure Abdulla Muthalib have refuted ongoing rumors suggesting that a land reclamation project is underway to extend the runway at B. Dharavandhoo Airport.
Minister Ameen stated that the government’s current priority is to upgrade the airport’s terminal and enhance its existing facilities to improve the overall quality of services provided to passengers.
Furthermore, Minister Muthalib clarified that no official approval has been granted for any land reclamation project at the site. He assured that should such a decision be made in the future, the local council would be formally notified. The ministers also confirmed that no contracts or agreements have been signed in relation to such a project.
